Crafty Christmas

by Northern Life

Your Christmas table will sparkle with these pretty angels and celebratory party hats, perfect for creating a stylish Christmas without breaking the bank.

Angel Decorations

Step 1:
You will need patterned paper – this can even be recycled wrapping paper – scissors, string, wooden beads and glue.
Step 2:
Cut 2 rectangles from contrasting papers measuring approximately 10 x 13cm and 6.5 x 7.5 cm.
Step 3:
Concertina fold (in nice tight folds) both of the rectangles so that the folds run along the longest side of each piece of paper.
Step 4:
Fold both of these concertinas in half to form V shapes.
Step 5:
Lie the small V on top of the large V. Tie together with your string tightly, leaving extra loose string once knotted. Glue the larger V shape together to form a dress and glue the smaller V to the sides of the dress to form wings.
Step 6:
Thread a bead through both of the loose ends of the string and tie another knot.

Your finished angels can be hung anywhere around the house: on your Christmas tree, tucked into wreaths or even just scattered on your Christmas table.

 Christmas Party Hats

Step 1:
You will need: thin card, scissors, glue, double-sided tape, string, shiny stickers, a pencil, off-cuts of wrapping paper cut to triangles, and some small decorative bells.
Step 2:
Create a semi-circle by tying some string to your pencil and holding the string down on a straight edge of your card. Longer string will make a larger hat, smaller string lengths will make hats that will fit little heads!
Step 3:
Glue your paper triangles all the way around the curve of the hat.
Step 4:
Trim off any of the triangles that overlapped the edge so you have a neat finish.
Step 5:
Add a bit of shine by sticking gold dots (or any stickers you have!) to the points of each triangle.
Step 6:
Pull the sides of the hat round so that the edges slightly overlap and secure with double sided tape. It’s really handy if you leave a very small gap at the point of the hat for the next stage.
Step 7:
Tie a couple of bells onto some string and thread it through the point of the hat.
Step 8:
Secure the string ends inside the hat with another sticker or some tape and trim the ends.
