After Winter

by Northern Life

Francis Forest, Earby

We know it’s been winter
So wet and wild and cold,
And we feel this nasty weather more
Now we are both a wee bit old.

If it wasn’t for our snowdrops,
How dull our garden would be
For they brighten up our Dale Street home,
Such a bonny sight to see.

And behind them winter jasmine
And yellow in its prime,
To put a sparkle to the roses
Long before their time.

A few crocus pop out here and there
To tell us it won’t be long
Ere sunshine will be with us
And make us all burst into song.
