Could the Kia EV3 be for you?

Making the switch to electric vehicles (EVs) for your business is an important step to take, so understanding the attractive whole-life and reduced-running costs and maintenance, as well extra benefits such as emission zone entry is of vital importance.

There’s a lot of choice on the market now, which didn’t used to be the case. Gone are the days of short range and limited vehicle options for electric vehicles. Today, there’s an electric version of more of less every vehicle category on the market. Therefore, choosing the right car for you can be tricky. Range, charging, practicality and price each deserve careful attention.

On hand to help navigate the market is the dedicated Business User and Fleet Team at Bolton Kia, who are happy to conduct site visits and demonstrate Kia’s electric vehicles directly at a business’ premises. Take advantage of an extended 48-hour test drive to truly experience how a Kia EV can fit in. This is a great way to ensure your business isn’t making blind choices and that you are equipped with the knowledge needed to be confident in your choice for your specific requirements.

Introducing the Kia EV3

The latest electric car to join the growing Kia fully electric line-up is the EV3. Despite the abundant competition in the EV3’s market segment, the Kia EV3 has just been named the ‘2025 World Car of the Year’ in the 2025 World Car Awards at the New York International Auto Show in April of this year. In the UK the Kia EV3 was also named ‘UK Car of the Year 2025, whilst What Car? named the EV3 its 2025 ‘Best Small Electric SUV.’

The Kia EV3 is available with two battery options and three trim grades to keep things simple. Like the Kia EV6 and EV9, the EV3’s grades include ‘Air’, ‘GT-Line’ and ‘GT-Line S’.

It has been tuned to find the perfect balance between performance and comfort, offering one of the best driving performances in its segment.

Equipped with the long range 81.4kWh battery back, the EV3 offers a WLTP Combined driving range of up to 375 miles. The 58.3kWh standard range battery pack – available exclusively on the entry-grade ‘Air’ – offers up to 270 miles range.*

400V fast-charging technology enables the EV3 to go from 10-to-80% in 29 minutes for the 58.3 kWh battery version, and 31 minutes for the 81.4 kWh version. Up to 125 miles of range can be added in just 15 minutes.**

The Kia EV3 is truly versatile, with a large amount of space in a relatively compact footprint thanks to the E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform). The EV3 positions itself as the most affordable electric vehicle in Kia’s four-model zero-emissions range.

It has been tuned to find the perfect balance between performance and comfort, offering one of the best driving performances in its segment. The battery pack is placed low down in the body, between the two axles, keeping the centre of gravity low and aiding weight distribution – delivering a balanced dynamic character and enhanced stability.

For peace of mind, and like every new Kia, the EV3 comes with a standard 7-year/100,000-mile warranty.

Safety as standard

The EV3 has a wide range of passive and active safety systems to ensure every occupant is as well-protected as possible on every journey. These have been extensively tested on European roads and Kia’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) help to mitigate against many of the daily hazards and reduce the stresses of modern driving. Its suite of passive and active safety features makes it one of the safest compact cars on the road.

The EV3 is fitted with the latest generation of Highway Driving Assist 2.0 with Hands-on Detection as standard to help the driver prevent a collision if another vehicle cuts in front of it at low speed. Lane Follow Assist 2.0 (LFA 2.0), detects lane markings and/or a vehicle ahead and centres the EV3 in its lane. Similarly, Lane Keep Assist (LKA) issues a warning and, if needed, provides steering assistance if the vehicle starts to drift from its lane without the turn signal being activated.

Blind-spot Collision-avoidance Assist (BCA) provides added safety to prevent collisions, providing a warning or braking assistance if another vehicle is detected when activating the turn signal. Forward Collision-avoidance Assist 2.0 (FCA 2) with Junction Turning/Crossing helps avoid collisions with a variety of other road users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and other vehicles – including in challenging situations such as navigating an intersection or road junction, dealing with oncoming traffic, and during lane changes. Depending on the situation, the system may provide a warning, evasive steering, or emergency braking to prevent a collision.

Savings that matter

Businesses should be advised to always look at the whole life costs when buying any vehicles. Running costs including fuel, tyres, servicing and maintenance all add up, while depreciation is another major factor. The Kia EV3 excels in each of these areas to offer attractive total cost of ownership (TCO) thanks to, for example, its highly efficient powertrain that makes more miles per kWh possible than for many of its competitors, service intervals of every 24 months or 20,000 miles, whichever comes soonest.

Electric car benefits are wide and varied for both business and driver. Company car drivers will benefit from low Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) tax.

“Going electric can be a big decision so it’s important to understand what it means for your business before making the switch.”

With the introduction of Ultra-Low Emission Zones, Clean Air Zones and Zero Emission Zones around the country, Kia’s EVs offer businesses the perfect opportunity to not only reduce costs of entry into paid zones, but also ensure EV-driving employees are able to visit clients without incurring penalties for doing so.

In addition, businesses will appreciate low Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) and reduced service, maintenance and repair (SMR) costs, thanks to an EV’s simplified powertrain with few moving parts and the use of regenerative braking that recovers energy back into the main battery pack.

Kia electric vehicles can also save businesses fuel costs, with a full 0-100% recharge for the EV3 Long Range costing around £20 (based on the average electricity tariff costing 24.5 pence per kWh according to the Energy Savings Trust***) thanks to special EV charging tariffs.
