Water Fun

What is it with kids and water?
Like a magnet to my son and daughter.
A cry of please, the wanting look,
That facial expression you can read like a book.
The smile on their face when they’re dripping wet
Melts my heart – I have no regret.
It captures a memory, a picture for me,
A moment in time for me to see.
Shivering, chattering, a gasp and a splutter,
Saturated clothes once again I mutter.
Oh, what the heck, they are having fun
Wet clothing peeled off and hung in the sun.
It’s inevitable, staying dry wouldn’t last –
If only they’d go to bed just as fast!
