The Peppered Pig

A warm welcome awaits at The Peppered Pig

We’re proud to use as much locally sourced food as possible

At The Peppered Pig and Pantry we want you to experience great quality, locally sourced, well presented food in comfortable surroundings.

We’re husband and wife team Glen and Sam Mitchell, and we’re serious about food!

Just about everything served in our restaurant is homemade, from our sun dried tomato and olive bread to our ever changing ice cream flavours…even the piccalilli that is served with the pork and chicken terrine.

We already have a keen following of discerning diners who return time and time again. Why not join them? You won’t be disappointed.

We set up the business in December 2009. Sam’s parents were in the pub and restaurant trade, so she had grown up in catering and had always wanted a restaurant of her own, even when she was working as a British Airways stewardess.

We built the new restaurant, designed by Glen himself with the help of an architect friend, in the grounds of Turnbridge Day Nursery, the successful day care nursery we had launched in 2003.

When we started, we attracted customers mainly from the local area, and now people come from far and wide. We have 25 staff at our restaurant and hotel, and we’re still both very much hands-on with the businesses we’re so proud of.

In addition to the evening restaurant, we have our tea rooms and the Pigs Pantry delicatessen with its wonderful stock of good food.

We’re proud to use as much locally sourced food as possible, and that’s one of the reasons
why there is so much demand at The Peppered Pig.

Sourcing locally means fewer food miles and a smaller carbon footprint. Here are some of our suppliers: Beef, pork poultry/game – R and J Finest Yorkshire Butcher and R M Kealey Farmer and Butcher, Snaith; Eggs – Mrs Bellamy’s Free range Eggs, Sykehouse; Fish/Shellfish – Hodgsons Fish, North Yorkshire; Vegetables –Delifresh, Bradford; honey from Fishlake.

We bake our own fresh Artisan breads and pastries daily, and the team in the kitchen now even go foraging for elderflowers to make our own elderflower vinegar. Check out our website to see our extensive menu, which includes breakfast lunchtime, evening, Sunday lunch and afternoon teas, and for something really out of the ordinary, let us introduce you to Lola! She’s our classic Volkswagen split-screen camper van, which you can book to sit in while you enjoy your afternoon tea or romantic evening meal, even try our exciting Degustation menu!
