SUMMER IN A GLASS

Based just north of York and near to the market town of Malton, Yorkshire’s food capital, Sloemotion Distillery presents this luscious new liquor. The strawberries in the gin were grown in Yorkshire, by Annabel Makin-Jones.  Two weeks of spectacular summer weather last year led to a bumper crop of sweet strawberries, but the weather turned sour just as the very sweetest and brightest fruit was ready. With no sunshine to encourage picnics or BBQs, the nation’s demand for fresh berries plummeted, but rather than go to waste, these fruits were frozen and have now been used as the heroes in the new gin.

Strawberry Gin Liqueur with Vanilla & Black Pepper. £20 sloemotiondistillery.com
