There’s nothing better than walking outside and breathing in the glorious scent of the nature. Many people love the unique scents plants such as flowers and trees give off and would no doubt love to create it in their own garden but have no idea which plants have the strongest scents. Well, worry not! We’ve teamed up with Gordon Rigg Garden Centre to find out which plants will have your garden smelling delightful and summery.
Plants With Scented Flowers
While the scents will vary from flower to flower, these glorious plants will soon have your garden smelling rosy!
TOP TIP Don’t plant in a windy site, weather conditions can make a huge difference to the strength and carrying power of the scent!
Shrubs
Abelia, Azalea, Buddleja, Chimonanthus, Choisya, Corylopsis, Cytissus, Daphne, Eleagnus ebbingei & varities, Hamamellis mollis & cus; x intermedia, Lavandula, Lonicera Fragtissima; x purpusii, Magnolia, Mahonia japoni; x media, Myrtus, Osmanthus burkwoodii; delavayi, Perovskia, Philadelphus, Pittospurnum tendifolium, Prunus lauroceraus; lusitanica, Pyracantha, Sarcococca, Skimmia, Syringa, Viburnum.
Trees

Plants With Aromatic Foliage
Many plants have scented leaves or wood. This means that they’ll give off their scent freely or as a result of a gentle bruising. Perfect for delicious woodland smell all year around!
