Northern Life is Going FREE

Here we are again – another winter, another brew, another chance for me to chatter on in your favourite Northern magazine. And this issue is a special one, because after 21 years of Northern Life, we’re about to do something exciting… and a little bit nostalgic.

Next spring, we’re going back to our roots – back to where Northern Life first began – by making the magazine FREE to pick up.

Aye, you read that right. Free. Nowt. Zero pounds. A proper Northern bargain.

Why? Well, let’s be honest, times aren’t exactly easy at the moment. The cost of living keeps on creeping up, the price of paper is rising faster than a ferret up a drainpipe, and local businesses – the heart and backbone of our pages – are feeling the pinch. We’ve stood beside them for more than two decades, and we’re not about to stop now.

So instead of scaling back, we’ve chosen to step up.

By going free, we can get Northern Life into even more northern mitts from Lancashire to Yorkshire, cut back on paper with our eco-friendly, handy B5 makeover, choose exactly where each copy ends up, and still cram every issue with poems, stories, memories, laughs, ‘What’s On’ guides, brilliant reader pics, and all the northern spirit you can shake a flat cap at.

Think of it as a makeover with meaning. We’re trimming costs – not quality. Our new B5 size is easier to hold and better for the environment. Whether you’re in Lancashire or Yorkshire – and yes, we know you like to argue about which one’s best — we’re still here to celebrate everything that makes our northern communities shine.
