No Ordinary Photography Course

Patterdale Hall Adventure Learning Centre has teamed up with renowned local photographer Charlene Bell of Beyond Imagination Photography to develop a digital photography course. Utilising the technical skills and knowledge of the outdoor pursuits instructional team at Patterdale Hall and the superb equipment available, the course will include taking photos from places you may not usually be used to taking photos from, be that a boat on the lake or high up on the mountain side.

Set on the southern shores of lake Ullswater, Patterdale Hall is a Victorian country house that has operated as a residential base for children and adults for over 50 years. The business is owned by Bolton School, a large independent day school in Lancashire. When not working with Bolton School students Patterdale Hall serves the needs of many other groups and organisations, trading so that it may contribute to a bursary fund for disadvantaged students to attend the school.

Participants on the photography course need little or no experience, just their own a Digital SLR camera (now readily available at good prices) and a desire to learn to use it better.

The course can be tailored towards the needs and desires of those on it but we hope that we can cover the following useful areas, getting to know your camera, lenses and what they do, automatic features to manual, shutter speeds, ISO, aperture and F stop, exposure, natural light, controlled light and flash, composition and post processing/editing. Along with this we will endeavour to offer inspiration for your future development and let you know where else you can get support from in the future.

The course is priced at £199 and included board and accommodation for the duration of the course (Friday evening to Sunday afternoon) photography tuition, technical support as we get outdoors and use of any further equipment.

Course dates are:

Finale of Autumn Colours: 31st October – 2nd November2014
