Let’s Talk Tyke – The Yorkshire Dialect Society

Learn how to speak proper!
Ey up! In an attempt to resurrect the Yorkshire dialect, and have it spoken with pride and passion, this autumn, the Yorkshire Dialect Society is running a six-week course, ‘Let’s Talk Tyke’, to teach the speaking, reading and writing of the Yorkshire dialect. Rod Dimbleby of Cleckheaton will lead the short course, priced at just £5 per session to cover costs (ideal price for cash-conscious Yorkshire folk!) – based at Keighley Library; it will take place over six weeks every Friday morning from 8th September to 13th October.
If you keep your eyes peeled, you’ll be lucky enough to find the society at Saltaire Festival on Wednesday the 13th of September as they collaborate with Wharfdale Poetry Society and Yardfest Jazz group. The entrance is free!
For full details of the course, email Rod at: atletstalktyke@gmail.com. Or for further information about the Yorkshire Dialect Society, see yorkshiredialectsociety.org.uk.
