Future plc, the international media group and leading magazine publisher, is marking the 30th anniversary of its iconic Homebuilding & Renovating brand with a new era of investment to launch a packed programme of activities and new events in 2020.
The campaign reinforces the continued growth of the renovation and self-build market, demonstrated by the record-breaking visitor numbers at the recent Homebuilding & Renovating Shows and increasing average project values, which have grown by over 10 per cent over the last quarter.
In addition to the publication of a special souvenir edition of Homebuilding & Renovating magazine in May 2020, four new Homebuilding & Renovating events will take place, supported by a suite of content via its online platform Homebuilding.co.uk. A special version of the Homebuilding & Renovating logo will appear on the cover of the magazine, website and on event signage throughout the year.
The brand’s 30th anniversary aligns with a full year of activity for the Homebuilding & Renovating Show, kicking off in January with an expanded South East Homebuilding & Renovating Show at Farnborough before moving onto the NEC Birmingham for the National Homebuilding & Renovating Show in March, which will host two new launches; the Homebuilding & Renovating Awards will honour the UK self-build industry, and the Custom Build Summit is a B2B event designed to help builders, developers and architects unlock growth in the fast-growing custom build market.
A third event launch will follow in September, when the Homebuilding & Renovating Roadshow debuts at Chester Racecourse. This exclusive, single-day event will bring the Homebuilding & Renovating Show concept to the North West of England for the first time and is designed to inspire a new audience to build their own home.
The London Homebuilding & Renovating Show in late September will play host to the fourth and final event launch of the year, when The Future Home Show will run alongside the main event at London ExCeL. Designed to help people navigate the exciting world of smart home tech, The Future Home Show will showcase the very best products on the market and help consumers integrate cutting-edge products into their homes during the design and build stage of self-builds, renovation projects or interior remodelling.
Paul Newman, brand director of Homebuilding & Renovating, says, “Homebuilding & Renovating has been helping people create a home that perfectly meets their needs for three decades, and we fully intend to keep going not stand still. Making our 30th anniversary year one of investment, product development and evolution reinforces our reputation as a forward-looking brand and demonstrates we are as excited about the future as we are proud of the past.”
Jason Orme, content director of Homebuilding & Renovating, adds, “Ever since the summer of 1990, Homebuilding & Renovating’s ethos has been to educate and inspire the creation of one-off houses while supporting the pioneering spirit of the self-builders and renovators, who continue to push boundaries to this day. What’s unique about our proposition is that the content is produced by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. We’re tapping into our experiences, good and bad, and sharing our rewarding voyage of discovery with our community. Homebuilding & Renovating is an inclusive brand and has always proudly pushed building your own home as a realistic option for as many people as possible – if you can afford to buy a house, you can afford to build one.”
Nick Noble, event director of Homebuilding & Renovating, comments, “Our combined channels attract the UK’s highest value homebuilding audience, with an average income of £77k, so we decided to expand our Home Interest portfolio with the addition of The Future Home Show, which caters for people’s appetite in the latest smart home technology and connected living products. Our commitment to constantly evolving and improving people’s experiences has now transcended the consumer sector and we’re currently looking at exciting new avenues in which we can support and recognise the trade area in which we operate. The Homebuilding & Renovating Awards and the Custom Build Summit are part of this venture.”
Mark Wright, Future plc Home Interest commercial director, comments, “Homebuilding & Renovating was founded in 1990 to serve the needs of Britain’s emerging community of people who were building or renovating their own homes. We have grown from strength to strength over the last three decades and are looking forward to celebrating this 30th anniversary milestone throughout the whole of 2020. We are launching more events, awards and many other new, innovative ways of promoting and serving the self-build sector and the diverse range of businesses and organisations within it.”
