Dreams

Dream

by Northern Life

Ethel Bailey, Colne

I dream of a world that’s trouble free
A world that’s safe to live in for you and me
When I go to sleep in my bed each night
I hope that tomorrow will be happy and bright
So I close my eyes and think of nice things
And hope that this is what the new day brings
Sometimes I dream of fields full of flowers
Or thunder and lightning and heavy showers
And I run in panic to try and reach home
But when I get there I find I’m alone
Everyone has gone, I know not where
Why have they left me, do they not care?
Dreams disappear when morning arrives
So forget the bad ones, let good ones survive
I hope my dreams of a better world come true
And life will be brighter for me and you
For this to happen will take quite a while
So until then face each day with a smile
