Culture Club Delight At Scarborough OAT

by Northern Life

The rain failed to dampen spirits as Boy George and Culture Club delighted their poncho-clad fans at Scarborough Open Air Theatre on Saturday night.

Boy George was joined onstage by original Culture Club members Roy Hay (guitar/keyboards) and Mikey Craig (bass) and an eleven-piece band to deliver many of their greatest hits including Move Away, Church Of The Poison Mind, I just Wanna Be Loved, Time (Clock of the Heart), I’ll Tumble 4 Ya, Do You Really Want to Hurt Me and It’s A Miracle.

George looked relaxed and thrilled to be back on stage again and this was an opportunity for Culture Club to share some new music with their fans. Lift Up Your Head Ghana, Swoon and Drop The Needle were well received. The fans were also treated to a sing-a-long of George’s cover of Everything I Own before the show closed with a rousing version of Karma Chameleon.

For the encore Culture Club returned with a cover of the T. Rex Classic Get It On and an a cappella rendition of This Little Light Of Mine.
