The ancient art of falconry is becoming increasingly popular. Local hotel The Devonshire Arms at Bolton Abbey has embraced the love of this country pursuit and teamed up with raptor expert Jess Craven to offer falconry experiences at The Devonshire Arms at Bolton Abbey and The Devonshire Fell at Burnsall.

Jess’s sporting career with birds of prey with 15 years’ experience includes being part of a leading UK birds of prey display team, along with training the falcons of sheikhs in the Middle East. As a result, her collection of falcons and hawks represent the best in global bloodlines, sourced from the UK, the Middle East and Canada.

As well as falcons, other species of bird complete their avian collection, including hawks, owls and eagles, offering a wider range of experiences to visitors and resident guests, both adults and children alike. In addition, there will be the unique opportunity to study for an accredited certification course, the first of its kind to be offered to hotel guests anywhere in the world.

The Devonshire Arms offers extensive and varied surroundings for the birds to show off their flight. Each session allows time for taking lots of photos and videos to capture and share lasting memories. Northern Life is offering one lucky winner a one-hour falconry experience for two guests to enjoy (RRP £138), enjoying interaction with the birds under Jess’s capable guidance in the beautiful Dales countryside. www.devonshirehotels.co.uk/falconry-experiences
