This partnership is about more than jobs. It’s about understanding...

A community collaboration has played a part in helping four men secure employment at Silentnight in Barnoldswick.

Paul Porter, HR Director at Silentnight Group, and Danny Hooper, from Positive Action in the Community (PAC), met at a Skills Working Group organised by Pendle Borough Council.

Following their initial meeting, they worked closely to identify suitable roles, arrange factory visits and support the men throughout the entire recruitment process.

PAC is a key partner in the delivery of the Move Forward employment support programme in Pendle, which is funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund from Pendle Borough Council.

Councillor David Whipp, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, said: “I’m delighted that we have been able to play some part in this heart-warming success story.

“This partnership highlights what can be achieved when local organisations come together with a shared mission to empower individuals, strengthen communities and ensure that no one is left behind.”

Paul Porter said: “We are delighted to be collaborating with Danny and the incredible team at PAC to create opportunities for individuals who simply need that first step on the ladder to a brighter future.

“This partnership is about more than jobs. It’s about understanding, supporting and building pathways for people who’ve faced challenges in life; letting them know their story matters, and that they are seen, valued and capable of thriving when given the chance.

“Together, we have already helped change lives. And this is only the beginning. We remain committed to opening doors for those who simply need a chance.”
