BOOK REVIEW: If Not For You by Debbie Macomber

Debbie Macomber

This is a love story which begins with a blind date which both participants reluctantly accepted. It continues with a car crash which leaves one of the pair, Beth, badly injured and the other – Sam – first on the scene to help her.

As Beth’s healing and convalescence continue so does the love match. Beth knows that while her father will not mind, she appreciates that her mother will be appalled at the match as Sam is a mechanic and not a high-flier.

That parental problem, and the help of an aunt puts Beth in a puzzling position but she prefers love to having a domineering mother.

As Beth heals in her body, her mind moves to solve the life problems of those around her, until things blow up in her face and it appears that her meddling has not only upset many others but wrecked her relationship with Sam.

Debbie Macomber has picked up on problems faced by many and cleverly merged them into one well constructed novel which moves relentlessly to a conclusion that will endear it to the reader.
