ARTIST LUCY PITTAWAY ADDS TWO NEW PIECES TO HER LONG-STANDING ‘A NORTHERN LIFE’ COLLECTION

Lucy is a renowned fine artist from Yorkshire who was recently awarded the ‘UK’s Most Popular Published Artist 2022’ for the third consecutive year has added two new pieces to her iconic ‘A Northern Life collection having released the original collection back in 2019.

Inspired by the sights and sounds of her Northern surroundings as well as those closest to her, Lucy paints some of her favourite places with stunning vistas, beautiful injections of colour and captures the serene feeling and calming emotions that befall these striking landscapes. “The initial inspiration was based on the fond memories I have of my childhood in Teesside and the North East. I spent lots of time with my family going to different places and enjoyed the vastly different landscapes that were in such close proximity to each other yet felt worlds apart.” Lucy said.

From the dreamy and dramatic coast lines of Northumberland, to the vibrant city of Newcastle, Lucy loved the contrast between city and surf within one region. This juxtaposition is explored again in Teesside with the major industry taking a backseat to the local countryside surroundings of Roseberry Topping.

Local landmarks take centre stage in this collection with steel and stone as primary materials of the Angel of the North, Tyne Bridge, Bamburgh Castle, Yarm Viaduct and the Transporter Bridge. Lucy explains, “The North has always had such a strong sense-of-self and industrial identity which is expressed in ‘Steel River’ and it was important for me to showcase this magnificent dominating landmark”.

“I hope the collection inspires you to enjoy the outdoors and all it has to offer, and that it brings a smile to all those who view it.”

The two new additions to this collection continue to explore Northern landmarks with the Transporter Bridge featuring again but departing from Lucy’s usual style and instead taking a horizons style view of the landscape. The colourful hues of the beach huts at Saltburn and the famous tram is one of Lucy’s favourite views as you look out towards the cliffs. he collection as a whole symbolises Lucy’s long-standing passion for a region diverse in landmarks and history.

“I hope the collection inspires you to enjoy the outdoors and all it has to offer, and that it brings a smile to all those who view it.” Lucy’s work is available as stunning Original works of art, Giclee Prints or striking Canvases.
