Support people with life-limiting illnesses in Pendle

Join the Pendleside Hospice Cross Bay Walk in Morecambe on Saturday, 13th July, and make a difference to the lives of those in need in Burnley and Pendle! This scenic trek offers a unique opportunity to conquer one of the area’s most stunning routes while supporting a vital local cause.

Participate in this remarkable event for just £15 for adults, £10 for children, and £5 for dogs. Your registration includes a complimentary t-shirt for adults and children, and a stylish bandana for your canine companions.

Gather your loved ones, or venture out solo—everyone is welcome! The walk kicks off at 10:30 am, but please arrive for check-in starting at 9:30 AM. The route stretches from Arnside to Kent’s Bank railway station, covering approximately 8 miles of diverse terrain. Adults should be ready to assist children and pets over challenging sections and deeper waters, as the path is not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers. Remember to arrange your return transportation from the walk’s endpoint.

Once registered, it’s time to start fundraising! While your registration fee helps cover event costs, any extra donations directly enhance the hospice’s ability to provide essential care. We encourage each family to aim for a minimum of £100 in additional sponsorship. A sponsorship pack will be provided to aid your fundraising efforts, and setting up a JustGiving or Facebook fundraising page can be a fantastic way to collect donations.

Be prepared for the adventure that is the Morecambe Bay walk! Expect a mix of sand, footpaths, lanes, and marshland, with varying weather conditions. The majority of the walk features flat, sandy stretches, occasionally submerged under shallow water. Midway, you’ll wade through the Kent River, encountering depths of about 2ft (60cm) over a 50m stretch. The journey concludes with a marshy trail leading to Kent’s Bank station, which can be slippery.

This unique walking experience not only challenges you physically but also offers a chance to contribute meaningfully to the Pendleside Hospice. Lace up your walking shoes, inspire your community, and make every step count towards a noble cause!
