by Northern Life

Whatever stage your relationship is at, a date night is the perfect way to connect with your partner.

Now, the number of date nights we should have differs depending on the expert you ask. Marriage therapist K’Hara McKinney recommends one per week for married couples. At the same time, research from the Marriage Foundation recommends once a month.

But planning lots of date nights can be tough. To help you find wonderful ways to fling woo together, here are seven exciting ideas!

You can’t beat the classics

Sometimes, the classics are the best. Don’t overthink if you haven’t been on a date night in a while. Go for dinner at a restaurant you both like. Catch a movie and book a sofa seat so you can snuggle. Or head to a hill overlooking the city and enjoy an afternoon or dusk picnic.

A home-cooked meal

As many solid couples will attest, the way to many a partner’s heart is through their stomach. If you want to show your beloved how much you care, consider cooking for them. Work out what their favourite foods are, then surprise them one evening. It’ll show you care and have put the time in to master their favourite dish.

A spa afternoon

Sure, it’s not exactly at night, but enjoying a few hours of pampering together can be a great date. Get a couples massage. Sit back in the hot tub and relax. Sweat out your cares in the sauna. Once you’re done, you and your partner will feel relaxed and happy; we’re sure of it!

A Paint-and-Sip Session

For a unique and creative date night, head to Pinot & Picasso and enjoy a paint-and-sip session with your partner while your sip on some wine and let your artistic side flourish. With friendly guidance from instructors, it doesn’t matter if you’re not an experienced painter. Create masterpieces side by side and take your artwork home as a cherished memento. This memorable experience is guaranteed to add a splash of creativity to your date night and reignite the spark in your relationship.

Head on a stroll

One of the main benefits of date nights is chatting through things in a relaxed context. Going for an evening stroll around your area or to the park ticks all these boxes. Clear your minds, chat things through, and enjoy the fresh air. It’s a great idea if you’ve both been sitting at screens working all day!

Watch a classic movie

There are certain films made for date nights. Brief Encounter. Roman Holiday. Casablanca. The absolute classics, made for an evening in with popcorn. Can’t access any via streaming? Fire up your VPN for Smart TV so you can access films outside your country. Netflix, Prime, and so forth often offer different films to different countries. So, check online if they’re available across borders.

Pottery painting

If you and your partner are creative, nothing beats pottery painting cafés. With this activity, you choose an item to paint (like a mug or coaster), then paint it. After you’re done, the pottery painting staff fire your creation, ready for you to pick up. Mindful and sedate, it’s a great way to make a cuppa more interesting.

So, there you have it. Lots of date ideas to keep things fresh in your relationship. What date ideas do you have?
