Cool Entertainment and Attractions Across Yorkshire
by Northern Life
York, and Yorkshire as a whole, aren’t exactly known for being bouncing entertainment hubs, but thinking that the county doesn’t have its fair share of great venues is just plain wrong. From Leeds to Bradford to York itself, Yorkshire has some incredible places to try out, no matter what kind of entertainment you may be looking for.
Here are some of our picks for the best leisure venues across Yorkshire that are very often overlooked…
Brudenell Social Club
One of the best-known secrets in Leeds can be found in Hyde Park and dates back well over 100 years.
Beyond this, a quick look at their website shows that it isn’t even just music, as there are public speaking events every month, plus some extra special Pieminster pies available if you get a bit peckish while you’re there. It’s a really fun and interesting venue for anyone who enjoys a social night out.
Victoria Gate
While Victoria Gate is primarily promoted as a casino, it has quickly established itself far more as a social hub within Leeds. In a world where homegrown online casinos like Mr Q are growing in popularity with virtual players, brick-and-mortar establishments need to distinguish themselves in different ways.
Victoria Gate did that by branching out in the activities offered inside, boasting about the biggest screens in the entire city to watch sports on for one thing. Aside from a large number of casino tables and slots available in the complex, it is also a live music venue featuring regular DJ nights and acoustic music sessions. As an added bonus, the food on offer isn’t something elaborate and fancy but keeps up the Northern sensibilities with well-made simple food like bacon rolls, jacket potatoes and even a few curries on the menu.
Kipling’s Indian Restaurant
Speaking of curry, we’re getting out of Leeds now and over to Bradford, a city famous nationwide for the best curries on the market.
Our pick, and the pick of the locals as well by all accounts, is Kipling’s in Greengates, which proudly displays a number of accolades including a top-tier Gold Seal from the Good Food Guide, a solid review from chef Ainsley Harriot, and nothing less than a Guinness World Record for the largest vegetable samosa ever made!
Despite all this fame, the owners have managed to stay humble enough to keep the prices reasonable, and the incredible variety of dishes available on their menu is a sight to behold by itself.
Between the food, the drinks and the relaxed atmosphere, Kipling’s is a night out all by itself.
So, those are our top picks! Although we can’t claim that this is an exhaustive list, as Yorkshire has so many other great venues out there that we just didn’t have the space to mention.
