The Yorkshire countryside has been revealed as the most Instagrammed in the UK, with millions of posts of the picturesque area having being snapped on the social networking site. For those of us who know Yorkshire, it’s easy to see why. From large stretches of unspoilt countryside and beautiful flowing waterfalls to rolling hills and rugged moors, there are some amazing views that are begging to be captured and shared. In order to celebrate the beauty of Yorkshire and encourage the nation to go out an explore the area, Premier Inn have rounded up some of its most impressive vistas, all of which can be visited now.

Whernside, Yorkshire Dales

Whernside is a picturesque mountain in the infamous Yorkshire Dales and forms the highest of the Yorkshire Three Peaks. It’s been hashtagged a whopping 8,862 times on Instagram and it’s easy to see why. A short walk around the area will take you to the Ribblehead Viaduct, a beautiful railway line running from hill to hill amongst the three peaks. The viaduct is one of the most famous feats of Victorian engineering, having been built between 1870 and 1874 with up to 1000 workers working on the site and attracting thousands of visitors each year.

Aysgarth Falls, Yorkshire Dales


The stunning cascade of water at Aysgarth Falls makes for a brilliant spot to take in the charm of the Yorkshire countryside. A famous visitor attraction, these magical falls have been captured 13,235 times on Instagram by tourists and locals alike. For those who visit the falls, there are a variety of tranquil walks to enjoy, which explore the surrounding beautiful forest and farmland on offer.

Flamborough Head, Yorkshire Coast


With over 25,800 pictures of Flamborough Head taken on Instagram, the beautiful white cliffs of Flamborough are perfect for a beautiful coastal walk full of unique views that are sure to have you reaching for your camera. Whether you’re bird-watching, hiking or just snapping the scenery, this is the perfect spot to appreciate the wild Yorkshire coastline.

Malham Cove, North Yorkshire

Set within the Yorkshire Dales, Malham Cove is an impressive sight, with the 230ft rock face being a favourite haunt of rock-climbers and ramblers alike. The picturesque cove has been snapped more than 25,000 times on Instagram, with the unique rock formation of the limestone pavements at the summit drawing plenty of crowds. This spot of Yorkshire countryside was even featured in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.

Ingleborough, Yorkshire Dales

With 14,176 dedicated posts on Instagram, Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales is not to be missed. The second highest mountain in the Dales and one of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, it is home to one of the most famous caves in the country, with a stunning waterfall flowing down the 100m drop into the chamber. To see the waterfall for yourself, you’ll need to take a trip with experienced cavers – however the rest of the caves can be accessed easily with daily tours.

Having been Instagrammed over 20,000 times, Ilkley Moor is famous for its beautiful views and stunning scenery.  But that’s not all it offers – you’ll also find mesmerising carved stones and rocks that are said to date back to the Bronze Age. These intriguing carvings are dotted across the moor and with over 300 currently recorded, there’s no doubt you’ll be able to spot some as you snap away at the scenery.

Once one of the largest fishing ports of the North East, the beautiful village of Staithes is rich with history and character. The picturesque seaside village is a hub of tourist activity and has been captured 20,129 times on Instagram. Interestingly, it’s most famous resident was a young James Cook who was apprenticed to a local merchant. It is thought that his experience of living by the sea led him to become one of the most famous explorer and navigators in the world, Captain Cook.
