Twelfth Night
by Northern Life
Gillie Threadgold, Skipton
Throw away the tinsel, ditch the paper chains
Flush away the stuffing that blocks up all the drains
Pack away the baubles, mend the fairy’s wings
Parcel up in bubble wrap all those ‘fragile things’.
Gather up the greetings cards, sort them out in piles
Some to keep, some ‘to throw’, and some to bring us smiles.
Finish off the sherry, dump the dying tree,
Lock out all the relatives and throw away the key.
Abandon being cheerful, shed the festive grin
Scrape up all the turkey and chuck it in the bin.
Time to put your feet up, change to bottom gear.
Goodbye Father Christmas, until another year.
