The Rover

Far out on the distant line,
Where heaven and sea are one
A fairy ship with sails out-spread
Sails into the setting sun.
Where goes this wanderer fair
With spray across her bows
To the mystic east, or the radiant west
Or the Land of Eternal Snows.
Maybe her wanderings over
Maybe she glides away
To be a fairy amongst the clouds
Beyond the ‘Gates of Day’.
Aboard her I must be
With the golden gates in view
And steer her with a steady hand
Into the waters blue.
