UNLOCK THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS: 10 ELF ON THE SHELF IDEAS TO SPARK FESTIVE JOY

by Northern Life

Make Christmas magical with plenty of Elf on The Shelf Mischief

As the festive season fast approaches, families across the UK are gearing up for the beloved Elf on the Shelf tradition.

If you’re not familiar, the Elf on the Shelf is a toy sent by Father Christmas to watch over little children and ensure they behave properly before the big day.

The mischief kicks off on November 24, and to help you make this Christmas even more magical, here are 10 fun, easy Elf on the Shelf ideas that are sure to put a smile on your kids’ faces:

Snow Angel Antics

Delight your little ones as your elf leaves a snowy surprise on the kitchen counter, creating adorable mini snow angels using powdered sugar. You can even dust some sugar over a footprint template to show that your elf has fled the scene!

Letters to Santa

December is a hectic time for the elves in the North Pole, and sometimes letters can get lost. Using a letter template can help ensure that your message is clear and organised. Have your elf deliver special letter templates for your kids to write to Santa, and when they fall asleep, the elf will take the letters straight to the North Pole.

Christmas Camping

Create a festive camping scene for your elf using mini bottle brush trees, a tealight for the campfire and a mini marshmallow on the end of a pretzel stick. You could even tuck your elf into their sleeping bag to really bring the scene to life.

Zip-line adventure

Let your elf embark on a thrilling zip-lining escapade using a piece of string. Position the string so the landing zone has a stash of treats worth the journey.

Toilet roll tricks

Grab a roll of toilet paper and wrap it around your Christmas tree. Then, have your elf sit perched on top, holding the end of the roll for evidence.

Hot chocolate hijinks

Hot chocolate is an elf’s favourite drink, so why not have your elf set up a hot chocolate station for everyone to enjoy a mug together while watching a festive film? Have your kids design their own mugs for an extra bit of fun.

Ski slope spectacle

Craft a mini ski resort for your elf using a folded towel or paper for the slope and sugar cubes or cotton balls as decorations. Position the elf at the top of the slope in their little sleigh, creating a playful, snowy scene.

Jolly Jenga Tower

Have your elf precariously build a Jenga tower, challenging your family to a game. Or have your elf make something their size, a Jenga tower made from chocolate finger biscuits, which is not only entertaining but also makes for a delicious snack!

Rock Climbin’ Around

Put your elf’s rock-climbing skills to the test by turning your fireplace into an indoor climbing wall with the help of some rosette Christmas bows.

Petty Pranks

Nothing in the house is safe when you give your elf a roll of clingfilm. This one is simple – every morning, wrap something new in clingfilm. It might just be the thing to encourage little ones to tidy items away out of Elf’s reach!
