Whilst there are many negatives happening across the globe it is vital that we remain focused on the positives. This is a very unique situation that most of us have found ourselves in, especially if you are in self-isolation and furlough. We have time on our hands that we may not have had since we were a teenager. We may not have control over what is going on in the world but we can have over how we look after ourselves during this time and make it an enjoyable experience.

In part one we looked at creating a spa ambiance and also looked at skin care however Penny Weston, Director at Moddershall Oaks Country Spa Retreat and Founder of Made, says: “The perfect spa experience is not just about what is going on externally e.g. treatments, spa facilities, but what you’re putting into your body. To achieve a wellbeing feeling from the inside and out, pair your at-home spa experience with a delicious smoothie filled with nutritious ingredients. These are really easy to make and can be done at a low-cost. All you’ll need is your ingredients of choice and a blender!

Treatment two- The Mavala Nacial: The Facial for Fingertips

Mavala, the world leaders in natural nail care, believe that it’s not just the complexion that needs pampering, nails do too! With a brand focus of care before beauty, this season, Mavala is encouraging its customers to place a focus on the health of the nail underneath the colour. With a range of swiss quality and high performing care products, a Mavala at-home ‘Nacial’ both nourishes and strengthens the nails, leaving fingertips in tip-top condition. Again, you can use your own products but Mavala’s Nail Expert, Lynn Gray has provided a step-by-step guide on how to complete a Mavala Nacial at home using Mavala products:

Step 1: Remove your existing polish with Mavala Acetone and Scent-Free Crystal Polish Remover

Step 2: Gently file your nails to shape being careful to file in one direction, then buff the nails with a buffer

Step 3: Apply Mavala Cuticle Oil to your cuticles in a soft circular motion and place your hands in a bowl of warm water. Let them rest.

Step 4: Dry your hands. We’d recommend doing this with a warm mitt for extra indulgence! Now that the cuticles are soft, gently roll them back using the Mavala Cuticle Remover.

Step 5: Next, apply the Mavala Lightening Scrub Mask directly to the nails and scrub with a brush. Leave the mask to work its magic by wrapping in a warm towel before rinsing.

Step 6: Massage Mavala Hand Cream into the palms and tops of your hands. Focus on your pressure points and work down your fingers.

Step 7: Now it’s time to apply your treatment. If your nails are flaking and weak apply Scientifique K+, if they are brittle apply Mava-Flex and if they are weak and bendy apply Mava-Strong.

Step 8: It is time to apply your base coat, followed by your favourite Mavala colour and completed with a layer of topcoat. Mavala Gel Finish is great for a strong and shiny look!
