The Yorkshire coast is set to be a scorcher this summer as the line-up for the Scarborough Open Air Theatre is proving to be the best yet – kicking off the season on 19th June with International superstar Lionel Richie.
Not only is it Europe’s largest open air theatre but the 2018 line up is jam packed! With a new standing area that has replaced the lake, fans can get even closer to the action and this year plays host to some of the biggest names in the music industry, you’re certain to be blown away.
The 2018 season welcomes Lionel Richie, The Script, Gary Barlow, Nile Rodgers, Steps, Alfie Boe, Emeli Sandé, Noel Gallagher, Pete Tong, Il Divo, James Arthur, Texas and Britney Spears plus more to be announced!
Alfie Boe will headline the Armed Forces Day Concert on Saturday 30th June at Scarborough Open Air Theatre. Alfie’s exceptional voice has cemented him as one of Britain’s biggest selling, most popular and best loved vocalists of his generation. A hugely successful recording artist, he has conquered the world’s greatest stages and arenas as the star of such legendary stage productions as Les Misérables and La Bohème. Join us in Scarborough to say ‘Thank You’ to the British Armed Forces – past, present and future. Armed Forces Day on the 30th coincides with the concert and is a popular family fun day out, now in its tenth year it takes place on South Bay, Scarborough. The event includes aerial displays, marching bands, Standards, Veterans and Cadets Parade and inspection, civic formalities, service of thanksgiving plus family fun activities, vintage stalls, military exhibits and vehicles etc.
This year also welcomes Los Angeles pop icon Britney Spears with her exclusive , “Britney: Piece of Me” tour. This tour follows Britney’s record-breaking, four-year headlining residency, “Britney: Piece of Me” at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, where Britney received rave reviews from both critics and fans alike.
Scarborough Open Air Theatre is perfect if you like your music accompanied by gentle sea breezes – sitting within yards of Scarborough’s North Bay Beach, with a capacity of 8,000, the Scarborough Open Air Theatre gives a new and vibrant experience for those who love to see their favourite acts performing live.
The theatre first opened in the 1930s entertaining thousands each night, since then it has undergone major refurbishment, and on 20 May 2010 the theatre was officially reopened by Her Majesty, The Queen. Since then it has played host to some of the music industry’s biggest stars, including Elton John, Jessie J, Wet Wet Wet, James Bay and Bryan Adams.
