Chester-le-Street’s magnificent Lumley Castle is getting ready to welcome shoppers for its annual Christmas market event. Set against the magical backdrop of the 630-year-old castle, the popular markets, which are now in their 8th year, will take place on Monday 2nd and Thursday 5th December.
Visitors to the luxury, four-star hotel will be able to purchase a wide range of unique gifts and festive treats from some of the North East’s finest suppliers including gifts, cards, clothing and accessories.
For those wanting to make a day of it and indulge in a seasonal sweet treat, Lumley Castle will be serving its legendary festive afternoon tea in the Barons Hall. The afternoon tea will include a selection of classically-filled finger sandwiches, homemade fruit scones, an assortment of sumptuous cakes and a glass of warming mulled wine, accompanied by traditional carols.
The markets will be open from 11.30-8pm on both days and are free to attend. Afternoon tea, which is priced at £21.50 for adults and £13.50 for children, is available at midday, 4pm or 8pm and must be booked in advance as places are limited.
