A CHESHIRE RUGBY club has come to the last minute rescue of a national dog charity, by offering their grounds for use in a vital fundraising event this month.
Finding Furever Homes (FFH) is a national charity helping to rescue and rehome dogs throughout England and Wales. For the past four years they have held their annual Rescue Ramble in the Cheshire area – it is a guided dog walk and fun dog show to raise awareness and much-needed funds for their cause.
However, due to unforeseen circumstances the charity had to change venue at short notice, at which point Moore Rugby Union Football Club (RUFC) stepped forward to provide the space necessary for FFH to run their event on 25 June 2017 – much to the relief of the charity’s Founder and Trustee, Andrea Newton.
Andrea said: “We are a small charity entirely funded by public donations and the Rescue Ramble is our main fundraising event of the year. Having to find a new venue at such short notice meant there was a real danger it might not go ahead this year, but thankfully the wonderful guys at Moore RUFC came to the rescue so we can proceed as planned.”
Providing their grounds as a venue for FFH is not the first time Moore RUFC have taken an active role in the community, also hosting a monthly outreach library service.
Andrea added: “This fundraising event is vital for people to find out more about what we do and also see some of the lovely dogs we have rehomed. I only hope people will not be put off by the last minute change of venue and still come along and support our cause.”
This year’s Rescue Ramble includes 12 fun dog classes, a dog tricks display team, doggy deli, cake stall, tombola, and a number of other stalls with lots of dog-related goods on offer. The event starts at 1pm on Sunday 25 June 2017, and will be held at Moore RUFC, Moss Lane, Moore, Warrington, WA4 6UU.
Tickets for the Rescue Ramble cost £5 per person. They can be purchased from the Finding Furever Homes website, and are also available to buy on the day.
